NSFAS Announce Funding Decision Date

Applications poured in this year for funding from NSFAS for university and TVET College study.  The number of applications was above 360 000 when the organisation last announced figures, although only about 10% of applications were for TVET College.  NSFAS has now confirmed the dates for when students will find out whether they have been funded or not.

Funding for NSFAS is available for South Africans who want to study at public universities or TVET colleges. The application window for those who want to study in 2020 was open until the end of November and in the last official communication from NSFAS they announced that more than 360 000 applications had been received.

If you are waiting to hear from NSFAS they have announced they will release funding decisions for all applicants from 6th January 2020.

The funding decisions will be communicated to applicants via the MyNSFAS portal so you are advised to check and track your application status updates online.

NSFAS also announced that they will also be notifying applicants with missing supporting documents to upload these documents online via MyNSFAS portal.

Applicants are urged to be vigilant and cautious during this period in order to avoid misinformation and potential scams. All status updates will be communicated online via MyNSFAS Portal.

The NSFAS Contact Centre will be closed and will not be available from Tuesday 17, 2019 to January 03, 2020. The shutting down of services will allow them to process and conclude all funding decisions.
