Salary: R433 992 – R595 380 per annum (plus benefits)

Core Responsibilities:


  • Advise Chairperson and Oversight Committees through monitoring and evaluating the implementation of Departmental business plans in order to enhance Departmental accountability and Oversight Committee functions of oversight and scrutiny
  • Compile and present reports to ensure that improved decision making by the Committee(s) take place
  • Identify and initiate research projects to ensure that the agenda of Committee(s) is influenced by research
  • Conduct independent research on behalf of the Committee(s) to ensure that research projects are delivered according to Committee requirements and influence Committee recommendations to Council
  • Disseminate research information to ensure improved decision-making and continuous enhancement of the quality of support provided to the political principles, Council and its Committees
  • Develop and maintain relationships and networks to build and maintain relationships and networks with other research professionals to enhance the quality of research conducted in the Legislature
  • Recommend research capability and skills, when required, based on Departmental requirements and Committee requests to the Senior Manager Research for negotiation and contracting
  • Provide research and advisory services to the Speaker and other political principles, as well as Legislature divisions to ensure that the institution’s decision-making and representation is driven by research



 Minimum Requirements:

  • Honours Degree or relevant equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification
  • 2-5 years’ appropriate experience within a research environment
  • Ability to manage a number of projects simultaneously
  • Qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Report writing skills
  • Knowledge of local government legislation
