Senior Economic Crime (EC) Analyst – Sandton

BUSINESS UNIT: Sasol Group Services (Assurance Services LOCATION: Sandton, Gauteng Province, South Africa ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB In accordance with the Sasol Assurance Services (SAS) Charter as approved by the Sasol Limited Audit Committee and the Economic Crime Response Plan as approved by the GEC: • Assist in the execution of Forensic Investigations, ECRM tasks by providing data analytics and financial system (mostly SAP) related information and act in the role of a subject matter expert. • Manage the execution of tasks to be within budgeted planned hours. • Assist in the execution of data analytics and ECRM related tasks for team members. • Ensure timely reporting of assigned tasks. • Ensure that the quality of tasks executed are aligned with the Sasol Assurance Services Operating Manual (SASOM). • Integrate with other departments with regard to knowledge sharing on tasks being managed and executed. • Maintaining the necessary data bases of EC related intelligence and occurrences. • Keep abreast of local & global trends and developments in EC and how to detect same. FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS Business Results: 1. Task Planning, Execution and Reporting: • Assist in compiling planning memorandum and program for specific task to be reviewed within ECRM. • Conduct subject relevant research for the task to be performed. • Conduct specific ad-hoc request as and when required. • Assist other functions within SAS when required. • Identification of adequate IT tools and software necessary to execute data analytics • Execute tasks in terms of the SASOM. • Ensure evidence support reported findings for all tasks performed. • Ensure the usage of CAATS to execute tasks. • Draft reports on finalisation of tasks to reflect the findings gathered during the tasks. • Adhere to reporting principles as set out in the SASOM. 2. Quality Control • Conduct review of working papers for allocated tasks. • Ensure quality requirements as per the SASOM are observed. 3. Quarterly Reporting • Assist in the compilation of quarterly executive reporting. 4. Consulting • On request review policies and procedures. • Provide consultative advice in terms of economic crime risk management and data analytics when required. Leadership and Values • Adherence to Sasol Values in the execution of all tasks. • Weekly feedback to Head of ECRM and Data Analytics on status of tasks to enable effective execution of the Integrated Risk Based Annual Assurance Plan (IRBAAP), as well as on progress with regards to assistance to SAS: Forensics on investigations. • Act as a change agent and assist in driving the implementation of innovative improvements to SAS processes and systems. • Stay abreast of new developments in the economic crime risk and assurance environment and make recommendations on necessary changes. • Be a role model for the Sasol values. • Manage own delivery to ensure requirements of the Sasol Limited Audit Committee in terms of our performance measures are met. • Manage own effectiveness. • Develop own skills with regards to economic crime risk management and forensic fields. • Communicate own requirements and assist in implementing skills improvement through training and exposure. • Pro-actively engage and share knowledge with own and other teams in order to drive integration between departments within Sasol Assurance Services. • Support the developed tactical plans. Relationships, Teamwork and Collaboration • Assist with the issue and discussion all findings with management/senior management. • Shares knowledge, networks and collaborates with Sasol Assurance Services colleagues on internal audit and forensic findings. • Contribute to discussions at client meetings where assurance about the area of responsibility is being discussed and proved feedback to Head: ECRM and Data Analytics. • Contribute to advice provided on Corporate Governance frameworks. • Identify and communicate any risk not yet identified through the risk management process as part of all ECRM tasks performed. • Build constructive working relationships with manager, peers, clients and other service providers. Communicate and behave professionally to enable actions to result in high levels of credibility, trust and respect. JOB REQUIREMENTS In line with Sasol’s commitment to Employment Equity, preference will be given to suitable candidate from designated groups. Qualifications and Experience: • A relevant Bachelor’s Hons degree (Information Systems/ Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics) with ten years’ experience, relating to Forensics Accounting/ Data Analytics/ Economic Crime Risk Management, or similar of which at least four years in the private sector. OR • A Bachelor’s degree(Information Systems/ Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics) with 12 years’ experience, relating to Forensics Accounting/ Data Analytics/ Economic Crime Risk Management, or similar of which at least six years in the private sector. • CFE certification (or similar) will be advantageous • In addition to formal qualification, proven SQL data base usage skills and the ability to interpret analysed data (from an economic crime perspective) is also a requirement. Subject matter expertise: • SAP knowledge at an advanced level • Ability to give strategic guidance on the detection of economic crime based on the identification of economic crime risks deemed significant/ priority to Sasol • Risk management • Economic crime risk management • Financial analysis and data analytics • Internal auditing • Membership to a Professional Body e.g. ACFE or similar
