Northwestern Provincial Treasury is implementing fully funded LGSETA accredited professional training in finance and municipal administration for 12 months. The NQF Level 4 Certificate of Continuing Education and Training (FETC) in Finance and Municipal Administration, SAQA ID 50372 is intended for students who wish to work in the municipal sector. He is qualified on a career path towards an accomplished local financial management professional.

Overview

FETC in Finance and Municipal Administration consists of exit-level learning outcomes, which cover municipal accounting, administration, budgeting, accounts, quantitative accounts, human resource management, and the legislative framework for the public sector. The competencies covered in the proposed unit standards include those required by government officials working at the operational level (technical support personnel in municipalities).

Therefore, the qualification will improve the ability of the qualified student as a municipality financial officer to perform the necessary financial management tasks. In this way, the qualification improves the transferability of skills in different areas of the public sector. At the same time, the student will acquire a solid foundation necessary for studies leading to the qualifications recorded at NQF levels 5 (diploma), 6 and 7.

In terms of implementing municipal financial management reforms, the classification serves as the basis for an effective implementation process by identifying and defining the competencies required by public technical officials. Having the relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes by municipal technical officials is critical to implementing municipal financial management reforms.

During this period, students will undergo theoretical and practical educational activities to achieve the qualification. Enrolled students are entitled to a stipend of R1800.00 per month. Students will have to undergo a mandatory interactive session (semester / theory) and experiential learning at the designated municipality sites.

Minimum requirements

Unemployed youth
A South African citizen
To have a 12th grade certificate and a driver’s license
Students must be proficient in the first and second languages
Be proficient at:
Communication at NQF Level 3
Literacy in Mathematics or Mathematics at NQF Level 3
Computer skills in NQF Level 3 applications
